Day 18 - At sea approaching Stanley, Falkland Islands

We were informed at breakfast that the sea swell is reducing and we will have calmer conditions on our way into Stanley where we will arrive at 8.00 tomorrow morning.  Things were a lot better by early afternoon.

The first lecture of the day was a very funny and entertaining talk on the birds of the Falklands.

This was followed by a short history of the islands from the first sighting in 1600 and first settlement in 1764.

Mid afternoon there was a chance to make an Origami Penguin.  We were given an instruction sheet and a piece of paper.  Mine didn't turn out too well but this was no worse than anyone else. 😂  Using paper that was black on one side and white on the other would have helped.

We then used the on-board sauna and jacuzzi for half an hour or so before going to the next event which told us how to get the most of our day in Stanley.

We hadn't seen much wildlife all  day but a lot of birds appeared early evening.

White Necked Petrels

Wandering Albatross

There was a nice bit of evening sunshine around and it started to feel a lot warmer.
