Day 7 - Petermann Island and Lemaire Channel
After breakfast we were taken to Petermann Island where there is an Argentinian Refuge Hut. Nearby there is a cross in memory of 3 young men working for the British Antarctic Survey Team who died in 1982 trying to cross the sea ice from here to Faraday Station. They were never found.

On the island were more Gentoo Penguins and some Adelie Penguins 🐧.
Here come the Adelie Penguins

We also saw Blue Eyed Shags, a snowy sheathbill (which feeds on Penguin and Seal faeces) and a Kelp Gull which is the only gull found in Antarctica.

The ship was unable to get to the planned afternoon stop because the Channel was blocked by ice. It sailed to another location in the Lemaire Channel.
We went kayaking amongst the icebergs and ice flows meeting a few Leopard and Crabeater Seals on the way.

Fabulous pictures, mate. Kept expecting Julie Andrews & Dick Van Dyke to follow the Adelies & dance! xx
